A new pastime has started in Norwalk for teenage boys, and that’s table pool. About 30 different high school boys have started to play pool at Pin High Sports Bar, according to the owner Justin Hall.
“I’m glad to have them here instead of causing problems,” Justin said. “I think it’s great as long as you know everybody is being respectful.”
Caleb Moranville is a freshman at Norwalk. He said he wanted to learn how to play pool because he sees it as a great way to socialize.
“I think the reason pool chose me is because I value my future and I see getting a head start for what my future looks like is important for my skill in the upcoming years,” he said. “I know that through my college years and my 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, I’m going to spend most of my time at a bar.”
Kolby Watts, another freshman boy at Norwalk, said he started to play pool at Pin High Sports Bar because he thought it would be fun.
“I believe I’m the cause of the great pool migration because I was one of the first few to start playing it and getting friends to play it with, and that caused them to tell other people to play and then more people to play,” he said.
Kolby said he’s not a fan of the huge crowds.
“The great pool migration is probably the worst thing to ever happen to me with the sport of pool because now I have to share the pool table with a bunch of want-to-be larpers who have no idea how to play pool and only play it because it’s the cool thing to do…” he said. “It’s utter horseradish!”
