Super Bowl Sunday premiered Feb. 8 with the Patriots facing off against the Seahawks and coming out victorious 29-13. For some people, the Super Bowl means Super Food, with average Americans consuming over 2,000 calories during the game, according to a Forbes article.
Some fans look forward to the game, the commercials, or the halftime performance. But what foods were Norwalk students looking forward to the most?
Jacoby Robbins said he was looking forward to his favorite gameday food.
“My go-to is bone-in wings,” he said. “Pair that with a nice BBQ rub, that hits the spot.”
According to Restaurantware, roughly 1.25 billion wings are consumed. The Super Bowl is responsible for 7% of chicken wing sales every year.
Blake Kathol said his favorite meal depends on the weather.
“If I’m at a tailgate and it’s a little chilly, a nice cup of chili is really great,” he said. “If I’m indoors watching the game, I’ll definitely have a burger.”
Cameron Clark said a gameday isn’t complete without his favorite food.
“I feel like it’s not really a Super Bowl or gameday party if there’s not any pizza,” he said. “I don’t have a specific preference for what type of pizza, I’ll take what’s available.”
Carson Menke said he always enjoys the wings for gameday.
“I really like wings, drumsticks, and flats, it just enhances the whole experience,” he said. “I mean every game I’ll eat food, but the Super Bowl is just another level of what’s offere,d and I think that’s partly what makes it so popular.”
