It’s officially winter, and winter activities have started to begin. Norwalk students are involved in various activities with their families and friends around the winter holidays.
Hannah Deprists likes to hang out with friends during winter break.
“I have a lot of free time that my friends and I can play in the snow or go out to get something to eat most days,” Hannah said.
Norwalk students, including Savannah Wright, say that they like to hang out with friends, as well as family.
“My family likes to bake fun treats a lot of nights,” Savannah said, “We like to try and make new things…, it’s like a challenge.”
In the winter season, holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah are celebrated in their own unique ways.
Many of these celebrations during the winter season include traditional winter foods. Such as roasted meats, side dishes, such as stuffing, and traditional desserts.
Many families also have their own traditions that they take part in as the holidays near.

“We also go to Christmas Eve mass every year with my family… and wear matching Christmas pajamas to open presents on Christmas morning,” Eden Lewis said.
While many families celebrate different holidays around this time of year, each family and or person can create their own traditions.
With movies like Elf, Polar Express, The Grinch, etc and many different holiday treats like cookies and gingerbread that can be shared by loved ones.
There are also many hands-on activities that people can enjoy and participate in during the winter break.
“I also have twin brothers who like to play games, and so we will have a game night a lot of days during winter break,” Savannah Wright said.
