“Home Alone.” Jolly Holiday Lights. These are some things Norwalk students said they enjoy about Christmas.

“It’s amazing and I love it,” said sophomore Addie Smith. ”It’s a fun time.”

Smith said every year she and her family go to the drive through Jolly Holiday Lights, the Christmas light display in Altoona.

“We normally go to Jolly Holiday Lights,” She said. “They’re so pretty and you get a free cookie.”

Smith says that her favorite Christmas movie is “Home Alone.”

“It’s funny and my brother looks like Macaulay Culkin,” she said. “It’s just a classic.”

Freshman Piper Weldon and sophomore Sierra Sammons also said they like the “Home Alone” movies.

“I always thought they were kind of funny, [and] entertaining,” said Sammons.

Sammons said a favorite Christmas memory of hers was related to movies.

“Over Christmas break we watched ‘Harry Potter’ for a lot of the time, and I think we watched ‘Lord of the Rings’ too,” she said. “A lot of movie watching.”

Sammons said she prefers watching movies instead of being outside during the winter.

“Honestly I kind of don’t like it (snow) because I’m not a fan of the cold and I don’t like shoveling,” she said.

Smith said that she enjoys snow and snow days because she does like winter weather.

“Wish we had them everyday,” she said. “I love the snow.”

However Weldon does not enjoy snow days because during summer high schoolers have to make up for lost time.

“They suck because you have to make them up,” Weldon said.

Although Weldon does enjoy Christmas.

“It’s fantastic, I look forward to it,” she said. “No school [or] family, it’s amazing.”

Weldon said this year she wants an Apple Watch and that her favorite gift in the past was an egg chair.

“I want a white band thing on my Apple Watch and I already have my egg chair,” she said. “It’s fantastic [and] it’s so comfy.”

Weldon says her favorite Christmas memory was Santa related.

“[My favorite Christmas memory was] when I saw my mom being Santa Claus,” she said. “She tried to hide it and it was so funny.”

Similarly freshman Aubrey Petty’s favorite memory was linked with Santa as well.

“[My favorite memory was] when my parents photoshopped a picture of Santa in my house and had my mom wake me up in the midd.e of the night saying there was a picture of him,” she said.

Sammons said her least favorite custom is waking up early Christmas morning.

“Although it’s great to get presents on Christmas, we have smaller children and they like to get up early,” she said. “I’m not a morning person.”

Sammons said a favorite Christmas tradition for her was getting her pets presents.

“I know there’s been a few times now that we’ll get stuff for our pets and it’s always fun to have your presents and to be like hey we got the cat a toy,” she said.

Sammons and Smith share a favorite past Christmas present.

“I got an mp3 player a few years ago and it was pretty awesome,” said Sammons.

Smith said her favorite gift was an MP3 player and a Dora brush.

Smith said a Christmas custom for her was the dish green bean casserole, although she’s not an enthusiast.

“Green bean casserole [is my least favorite custom because] I hate green bean casserole,” she said. “We eat it on Christmas and Thanksgiving and it’s so bad.”

“I think Christmas is great because I get a lot of candy and new stuff,” said Petty in a summary of Christmas.
