On Friday, Oct. 10, the Ottumwa Bulldogs (3-3) will host the Norwalk Warriors (3-3) at Schaefer Stadium in Ottumwa, Iowa.
According to GoBound, Norwalk is ranked #15 in 5A, while Ottumwa is ranked #23. Also from Bound, this is the first time they have faced each other (since 2008).
Senior James Hatlevig is among the top quarterbacks in 5A as of October 7. He is #3 in total touchdowns (17), #2 in passing touchdowns (17), #4 in passing yards (1,316), #3 in offensive touchdowns (17), and #2 in passing completions (104).
Meanwhile, senior running back Breck Welch has 67 carries, 395 yards, and three touchdowns. On the receiving end, Welch records six catches, 44 yards, and two additional touchdowns. His totals are 439 all purpose yards and five touchdowns.
The top receiver on Norwalk is senior Eli Robbins. Recently, he broke the Norwalk record for most receiving yards, with his 2,015 not being matched. Robbins surpassed 2023 graduate Dillon Ranck, who had 1,771.
Senior Luke Brewer leads the team in total tackles with 42. Junior Victor Esparza follows in second with 30.5, and not far behind is senior Eli Robbins with 29.5. Meanwhile, Brewer has 39 solo tackles, leading Norwalk. Robbins has 29 solo tackles, placing him in second. Third place goes to junior Gavin Ross with 28 tackles.
It is not clear who he overtook, but sophomore Greer Langel kicked the longest field goal in school history, with his longest being 52 yards.
