Most Norwalk High School students had a four-day weekend starting on Friday, Jan. 17, as first semester ended and teachers prepared for second semester to begin.
Just nine school days before the four-day weekend, students came back from a two-week winter break, and several students said they didn’t want it to end. Joe Madonia said his Christmas was great and that he loved having the time off school to be with his friends and family.
“Hanging out with my family was a great break because I haven’t had time to do so as school and work have gotten in the way,” Madonia said.
Allie Williams said that she had a fantastic winter break and that she wished it wouldn’t have ended. She also said she was disappointed that it didn’t snow for Christmas day.
“I wish we had a white Christmas so I could take good pictures with my friends and family,” Williams said.
Aythan Ellis said he got gifts for his family members for Christmas.
“I spent a lot of money on gifts this year for my friends and family to have a good Christmas and I tried to get gifts they all wanted,” Ellis said.
Caleb Robbins said he went riding with his friends on four-wheelers at different riding parks all around Iowa.
”My favorite part of winter break is when I got my new four-wheeler and powder coated it for the summer months to go ride with my friends,” Robbins said.
Elijah Peterson said he had a great Christmas break and wanted it to last longer because it went by so fast. Elijah said he went shopping almost every day over Christmas break to get everyone gifts, including himself.
“I went to Scheels and the mall a lot over winter break to get people presents,” Peterson said.
Jackson Wandrey said he went ice skating over winter break in his backyard ice rink. He said he plays hockey with his little brother on their own rink in their backyard.
“I got a new pair of hockey skates for my birthday on Dec. 16 when I turned 15,” Wandrey said.
