Some Norwalk students are in the minority of Cornhusker fans located in Iowa. Some of those students noticed a big rivalry between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Sophomore Blake Kathol said he only shows his Husker pride around people he is comfortable with like friends and family.
“I will show all of the pride that I have when I know the type of environment I’m in, so that way I avoid any immature arguments with others,” he said.
Sophomore Tillman Papcun said that as a Nebraska fan, he is judged a lot by Iowans, but he still loves to see Iowa fans so irritated over an opinion.
“When I am in public and see an Iowa fan’s big cheesy smile turn into a frown it brings me joy,” he said.
The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Nebraska Cornhusker face off every year during the weekend of Thanksgiving. Papcun said he thought the Huskers were going to win because of how good Dylan Raiola looked, also saying that it would be a blowout.
“The Huskers should have it easy with Dylan at the helm,” said Papcun.
Logan Atherton said he thought Iowa would take it home, and said that Iowa was 6-1 at home, and that the atmosphere would cause them to win because it would put too much pressure on the Huskers.
“It’s obvious,” he said. “Nebraska has been crap, and when they let the fans get to them they will choke.”
Iowa would end up defeating Nebraska 13-10 on Saturday, Nov. 30, at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.
“It was rigged,” Papcun said. “Iowa should have never gotten that practice field goal, Nebraska called a timeout and Iowa still kicked it. There should have been a flag for delay of game.”
