Apple cider donuts and Pumpkin bars, these are some of the treats that some Norwalk students and staff say they are looking forward to enjoying this fall.
“I do like apple cider donuts,” said Mrs. O’rourke, a science teacher at the high school.
O’Rourke said she is not the only one in her family who enjoys apple cider donuts.
“Sometimes I do get a whole six pack and then my husband and I do three each,” she said.
O’Rourke used to live in Illinois, and moved to Iowa a couple of years ago. She said that she often went to a place called Tanners Orchard, but since that is in Illinois, she is looking for a new place to get her apple cider donuts.
“I never tried Wilson’s Farms but I am hopefully going to go this weekend, and then I can let you know if that one is worth it,” she said earlier this month.
After her trip to Wilson’s Farms, she came back with her review of their apple cider donuts.
“They were very good,” she said.
Keegan Johnson, a senior at Norwalk High School said that his favorite fall treat is pumpkin bars. His mom makes them near the end of September and they enjoy it throughout the fall.
¨And when we get low she’ll make some more,” he said.
Johnson said he eats a lot of his mom’s pumpkin bars at Thanksgiving, but he would also have them after dinner as a treat during the fall season.
“I have them like 3 times a week or something like that,” he said.
Daniel Roche, a senior at Norwalk High School, said that his favorite fall treats are apple cider and apple cider slushies.
“It’s like a love not a like,” he said.
Roche said that he still remembers the first time he tried apple cider.
“Ever since I was little, my mom used to take me to a pumpkin patch,” he said. “I still remember the first time she took me, and my first apple cider I had. I fell in love instantly, and now every single year we go.
Roche said that he had tried an apple cider slushie at Howell’s Pumpkin Patch in the past that he enjoyed.
“It was not just a liquid, it was like an ice cream texture of joy and happiness.”
